(KWNO)-Plainview Milk Products Cooperative is being ordered to pay $17,820 in fines by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. An MPCA investigation ruling the milk co-op in Plainview allowed milk-laden industrial wastewater to drain from its facility into a nearby creek on two separate occasions in 2022.
The creek drains directly into the North Fork of the Whitewater River, which is a designated trout stream. The MPCA says the company failed to immediately report the release as required in its permit and adds the company had an inadequate system to monitor wastewater flows.
