(KWNO)- The school board of Winona Area Public Schools is beginning their search for a new superintendent, and they’re looking to students, families, staff members and community members for help.
WAPS says that an integral part of the search process is gathering stakeholder input for the board to consider. While working with the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) to guide and provide assistance during this process, WAPS and MSBA have created two ways for the school community to get involved. A search survey and a virtual Q & A session.
The search survey will be an anonymous public survey that’s main goal is to determine what the school community is looking for in its next leader. That survey is available to take on the School District website at www.winonaschools.org.
The survey is open until May 7, 2023, and is available in both Spanish and English. If one prefers a hard copy, they are available at all district buildings and WAPS ask that those hard copy surveys are returned to one of the district locations by May 7.
Following the survey, the MSBA will summarize and provide an overview of the responses for presentation to the school board, WAPS says.
The virtual Q&A with the MSBA will ensure that stakeholders in the community have access to accurate information regarding the search processes and expectations. That Q&A will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3.
The zoom link to participate is also available on the district website at www.winonaschools.org.
All stakeholders are invited to attend, but if unable, the session will be recorded and made available on the district website for the remainder of the search.
Questions about the search process can be submitted anonymously in advance of the session at https://waps.pub/MSBA_questions. The deadline for submissions of advance questions is Noon on Wednesday, May 3.
