(KWNO)- Early this morning around 7:15 a.m. A vehicle collided with a school bus, leaving the two occupants of the vehicle with serious injuries, and some kids in the school bus with minor injuries.

At approximately 7:15 a.m. the Trempealeau County Dispatch Center received numerous 911 calls of a two vehicle crash with injuries, according to a press release form the Trempealeau County Sherriff’s Office.

Preliminary investigations from officers indicate a school bus carrying 14 children and the adult driver, were traveling north on US Hwy 53 near the intersection of Nelson Rd. in the Town of Sumner.

The bus began to slow to make a left-hand turn onto Nelson Rd. A Nissan Rouge with two adult occupants, also traveling north, struck the bus in a rear-end fashion, causing the collision, says the press release.

Authorities say that five of the children on the bus were treated for minor injuries. Both adult occupants of the Nissan were transported by ambulance and helicopter to local hospitals for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Trempealeau County Sherriff’s Office say that the investigation remains open and ongoing, and deputies are investigating potential impairment and reckless driving of the driver of the Nissan.
