(KWNO)- Winona Area Public Schools announced in a press release that they will offer all-day preschool for children ages 3-5 beginning in the fall of 2023.
There will be an open house that families are invited to attend in order to learn more about the new schedule an all that the Community KID Preschool program has to offer on March 27, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the early childhood area at Goodview Elementary.
“We are a high-quality Early Childhood program,” said WAPS Early Childhood and School Readiness Coordinator. “Through our new all-day programs, we are able to provide a longer amount of time in a day for your child to learn and practice the skills that promote improved health and learning outcomes.”
There are options families can choose to enroll their child in with this program. One that would meet three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and another two days a week on Tuesday and Thursday. The three-day program is designed for children ages 4 and 5 who are scheduled to enter kindergarten in the fall of 2024. There will also be two locations, one at Goodview Elementary and the other at Washington-Kosciusko Elementary. Transportation and meals are available, and scholarships are available to families who qualify.
WAPS Key kids Child Care is planning to offer after school care for children enrolled in the preschool program as well. Previously, students enrolled in Community KIDS Preschool programs could attend in the mornings or afternoons and they did not have access to childcare on snow days or half-day planning but will now be able to.
