(KWNO)- A two-vehicle accident in Trempealeau County earlier this morning at approximately 8:01 a.m. led to a fatality.
According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s office, a GMC Sierra truck and a Kia Sorrento were the two vehicles involved in the crash, on US Highway 53-54-93, .3 miles west of US Highway 54.
Sheriffs say that the GMC was traveling east and crossed the centerline where it struck the Kia Sorrento in a head-on manner. Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and extricated patients from the vehicles.
The adult driver of the GMC had severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The Kia had an adult driver and a 1-year-old child in the rear passenger seat. They were transported to the hospital, where the adult driver died from injuries sustained in the crash. The 1-year-old has no reported injuries.
The names of those involved have yet to be released, pending proper notifications.
The investigation is open and ongoing.
