Former St. Charles Mayor, Bill Spitzer, to Run for Winona County Commissioner

(KWNO)- Former St. Charles Mayor Bill Spitzer will run for Winona County Commissioner, he announced in a press release.

The Winona County Commissioner seat was vacated by Representative Steve Jacob, who was elected to the House of Rep. last year.

Spitzer has over 40 years of experience in public service, holding titles such as deputy sheriff to Mayor, of course being the Mayor of St. Charles, and currently serving as the chairman of the St. Charles Economic Development Administration.

“Serving the public is an honor,” said Bill Spitzer. “My decade of leadership as mayor was a highlight of my public service and I look forward to broadening that service to the citizens of Winona County.”

The Special election for the District Three seat will fall on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. If more than two candidates file to run for the seat, the election will become a primary election. If that is the case, the two candidates who earn the most votes would then proceed to a special general election on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
