(KWNO)- Early this morning the Winona Police Department responded to a suspicious activity call in an apartment complex on the 100 block of Washington Street.
The caller stated that a man was yelling and banging on doors throughout the complex.
When officers arrived, they found Evan Navarro-Katz, aged 22 of Winona, sitting in the middle of a hallway. Officers say that Navarro-Katz was falling and asleep and moaning when they arrived.
The WPD says that officers initially went to check on the health of Navarro-Katz. Navarro-Katz immediately was uncooperative, threatening officers if they were to touch him again.
Officers then began to try and cuff Navarro-Katz and that’s when Navarro-Katz physically pushed an officer. Officers then worked together to pin Navarro-Katz on the wall, eventually cuffing him. The whole time Navarro-Katz resisted the arrest.
After searching him, officers found brass knuckles on his person, which is considered an illegal weapon in the state of Minnesota.
Officers arrested Navarro-Katz, charging him with obstruction, possession of an illegal weapon and referred a 4th degree assault charge to the county attorney.
