Johnson Street Underground
(KWNO)-The Winona Arts Center is set to host the Johnson Street Underground’s holiday concert at 7 p.m. on December 9th.
Performing in and around Winona, Johnson Street Underground (JSU) is Winona’s TTBB acapella group, covering a multitude of songs and styles, which include the likes of Green Day, Dolly Parton, the Beatles, and Adele. After recently completing their outdoor performance schedule across Winona, they are taking center stage at the Winona Arts Center.
A dramatic tenor, Matt Schultz of Johnson Street Underground provides the clear, strong lead you hear in their music. Matt doesn’t miss a beat while serving as the Elementary Title I teacher at Jefferson Elementary School.
JSU’s lyric tenor is none other than Seth Flatten, who brings a warm, bright voice to the group. The multiskilled Seth also serves as a Customized Training Representative at Minnesota State College Southeast.
JSU’s esteemed baritone, Charlie Opatz, brings a range of vocal talents that allow him to easily swap parts with everyone else. Charlie recently retired as Winona State University’s Academic Advisor/Career Counselor.
The group’s second bass is John Chernega, who is a master at singing all of the low notes. John has taught English all over the Winona-La Crosse area.
At their holiday show, the quartet will perform many new songs, some familiar and some not. They will also be inviting the audience to join in on a selection of songs.
The coffeehouse opens at 6 p.m., with the musical performance to follow at 7 p.m.
Ticket purchases are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Hardt’s Music until 4 p.m. on December 9th, or through Eventbrite.
