(KWNO)-The student councils at Winona Senior High School and Winona Middle School outdid themselves this year, serving 622 meals to community members during their annual Herky Turkey Community Dinner on November 10th.
The 622 meals that were available as a dine-in option in the WSHS concourse, as a drive-through option, and as a delivery option blew away their 2021 record of more than 500 meals.
The combined efforts of the student councils made it possible to raise $6,351 through business contributions and free-will donations from those in attendance.
The WSHS and WMS student councils would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the WAPS School Nutrition staff for taking the time and care to prepare all of the food for over 600 people. They would also like to thank members of the WAPS maintenance staff, WAPS clerical staff, and teachers and educational assistants at all levels, including student council advisors Lisa Mullen (Winona Middle School) and Jackie Stevens (Winona Senior High School), who helped make the event a success. Helping hands make this event happen annually, and this year was no different.
