(KWNO)- In honor of mental health awareness week, the Hiawatha Valley Mental health center will be hosting an event called ‘Bringing Light into Darkness’ tomorrow. Oct. 6th.
It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and go until 8:30 p.m. at the Levee Park Patio in Winona.
The event is free and open to the public.
According to a press release from Hiawatha Valley, the purpose is to raise awareness of the darkness that mental illness and addiction can evoke, but through the darkness, there is a light that can build resiliency and recovery.
At the event, 1,000 green lights will glow at the Levee Park Patio in Winona to represent the individuals in Minnesota who have lost their lives to suicide or substance use in 2021.
There will be speakers, music, and an opportunity to honor those we have lost.
