(KWNO)- On Monday, Sept. 19th, the City of La Crescent, Minn. celebrated the opening of the Wagon Wheel Trail Bridge.
The Wagon Wheel Trail Bridge is phase three of a four-phase project that started all the way back in 2015.
The Bridge was $3.5 million that was funded by both a $2.5 million bond from 2018 and a grant from MnDOT worth $1 million.
With the bridge being built, it provides pedestrians with safe passage across Hwy 14/61. It also connects La Crescent to La Crosse, Wis. providing new opportunities for the community while also promoting tourism.
Senator Jeremy Miller was in attendance to do the cutting of the ribbon. The Senator says of the bridge,
“Congratulation to the City of La Crescent on the completion of the Wagon Wheel Trail Bridge! This collaborative effort between the local community and the state of Minnesota is the result of people working together toward a common goal. I’m proud to have helped play a role in getting it done.”
