(KWMN)- Warrior softball pitcher, Liz Pautz, was recognized by the NCAA for leading two statistical categories in the whole nation during her stellar 2022 campaign.

The Pulaski, Wisconsin native not only topped the nation in total strikeouts over the course of the season but also led the country in strikeouts per seven innings.

According to winonastatewarriors.com, it is believed that Pautz is the first female athlete ever for Winona State to lead two statistical categories in the whole nation.

Pautz had 361 strikeouts and possessed an absurd 11.8 strikeouts per seven innings mark.

Those numbers are impressive as they are, but maybe even more impressive because the next four pitchers behind her in those categories had more innings and games pitched than Pautz. She not only led the nation in two statistics, but she did it in less amount of opportunities than her peers.

The Winona Sports Network reached out to Pautz to ask her how she felt after being recognized for her individual achievements,

“[The recognition] Means a lot because it proves to me that everything I did in my softball career and everything I sacrificed to get to this point was so worth it.”

Pautz can couple this recognition with her D2CCA and CoSIDA All-American nods as well as her NSIC All-Conference selection.
