(KWNO)- A West Salem Student has died following a watercraft accident that happened on the West channel of the Mississippi River on Tuesday.

Law Enforcement, along with the DNR, were called to the scene after two watercrafts collided.

The investigation is being led by the DNR and is still ongoing. There has been no update since the accident took place.

In a letter to families, the West Salem School District identified the student as sophomore Marley Tauscher and they will be offering counseling to students through today, June 16th.

A Go Fund Me has been set up for the Tauscher family and has already raised close to $26,000. In a brief paragraph in the Go Fund Me page, Tauscher is referred to as,

“One of the most dedicated and talented individuals…She had a loving heart and cared for everyone around her.”
