Corps Welcoming Comments on New Pool 6 Dredged Material Management Plan

By Jake Litman Jun 15, 2022 | 1:11 PM

(KWNO)- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting an open house about their new draft for a dredged material management plan.

The draft includes two placement opportunities and a transfer site next to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. Citing public review back in 2020, the Corps will no longer include the large Winona Harbor in the plan.

The Corps said in a press release that their main goal with dredged material, or known to most as river sand, can be re-used for activities such as general construction fill, cattle bedding and winter road traction.

The open house will be held at the Winona County Historical Society on June 22nd, from 6:30-7:30 P.M. The public is welcome to drop in at any time in which they can learn more about the plan and ask questions if necessary.
