WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-The Winona Police Department is prepared to issue citations for safe biking habits this summer.
The citations are actually vouchers for a free ice cream cone from Dair Queen. The Winona Police Department is one of over 360 law enforcement agencies taking part in a statewide safety effort to catch kids wearing helmets while biking, skateboarding, scootering, or in-line skating.
The campaign is called “I got Caught.” It’s put on by the Minnesota Sheriffs Association, the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, MN Toward Zero Deaths, AAA and Dairy Queen.
Winona area youth caught wearing a helmet can redeem their citation at the east end Dairy Queen.
