WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-The Winona City Council voted to accept a grant from the DNR to continue treating the city’s ash trees.

City officials say the grant allows the city to conduct municipal ash tree treatment through 2025. They plan to treat 390 trees this year and 195 in 2023 with each group of trees receiving follow-up treatment in 2024 and 2025.

Friends of Winona parks treated 195 of the city’s 585 ash trees last year. Total funding from the DNR grant is $124,775 and does not require a match from the city.
