WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-The Winona County Sheriff’s Office is reminding boaters of the no-wake zone along Levee Park.

Sheriff Ron Ganrude says the ordinance is still in effect even though there aren’t any buoys marking the no-wake zone. Ganrude said the water is too high and is moving too quickly for buoy placement.

Ganrude said boat patrols will be enforcing the ordinance.

Winona’s no-wake zone spans from the interstate bridge to the area of the east-end boat launch. The no-wake zone is marked by a sign on the west side of the new interstate bridge.

Ganrude also cautions boaters to be on the lookout for logs and other debris floating in the river.  He recommends waiting for the river levels to fall before hitting the water.
