Masks No Longer Required for Winona Transit

By TJ Apr 20, 2022 | 11:57 AM

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona Transit riders will no longer have to mask up before climbing on board.

Winona City Clerk Monica Hennessy Mohan told KWNO that MnDOT confirmed the mask mandate has been lifted for all public transit in Minnesota. A federal judge on Monday struck down the nationwide mask mandate for air travel and mass transit.

Face coverings are no longer required at the La Crosse Regional Airport, Rochester Internation Airport, and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Delta, United, American, Sun Country, Southwest, and Sun Country are among the major air carriers to announce that masks are optional on flights.

Amtrak is also making masking optional. Transit officials say passengers may still choose to wear masks and are asking for the public to allow them that opportunity with respect and support.
