Lanesboro, Minn. – Lanesboro Arts is thrilled to announce the 2022 line-up of the popular outdoor summer music series Rhythms on the Root. The series activates the vibrant asset of Gateway Park as a place for the Lanesboro community and visitors to gather and celebrate with live music. The series offers an infectious range of music including bluegrass, soul, and indie rock from regionally-acclaimed bands Kiss the Tiger, Good Morning Bedlam, and Jaedyn James.
The concerts will take place from 6:00 – 7:30 pm on the second Saturday of every month from July through September. Tickets are on sale now and are $15 (free for youth age 12 and under, but tickets are still required).
Saturday, July 9th, 6:00 – 7:30 pm: Kiss the Tiger
Kiss the Tiger pounced onto the Twin Cities music scene in late-2016 and has been making big waves ever since. Inspired by the sounds and energy of The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and Patti Smith, Kiss the Tiger has breathed new life into 21st century rock and roll. Their EP “Elliot Park” was released in November of 2017. In 2019 Kiss the Tiger released their sophomore album “Let Me Bleed”. “Vicious Kid”, released June 3rd, 2021, marks Kiss the Tiger’s 3rd full-length LP, and 2nd full-length studio album. Star Tribune named “Vicious Kid” one of the Best Minnesota Albums of 2021 so far.Saturday, August 13th, 6:00 – 7:30 pm: Good Morning Bedlam
Good Morning Bedlam has become an innovative force in the midwest folk scene. Their shows are known for their contagious energy, with tight soaring three-part harmonies, and thumping kick-drum. Every song is a unique twist on what is generally dubbed folk music. In 2021, GMB ran a successful Kickstarter in July of 2021 for their much anticipated third full-length record ‘Lulu’ where fans from around the world pledged a total of $34,000. GMB has been featured on Bluegrass Today, Relix Magazine, Glide Magazine, Entertainment Tonight, and Under the Radar Magazine.Saturday, September 10th, 6:00 – 7:30 pm: Jaedyn James
Jaedyn James is a powerhouse singer, songwriter, bandleader, and master of the stage. Her songwriting draws from the styles of Janis Joplin, Prince, Amy Winehouse, and Sharon Jones. Her sound can be best described as Midwest Soul and her band packs a punch. Audiences everywhere are touched by Jaedyn’s story and wowed by her talent. Don’t miss a Jaedyn James show.Seating will be first-come, first-served general admission. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or blanket to sit on in the park.
The Rhythms on the Root series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
