(KWMN)-

St. Croix Casino, Turtle Lake announced it will be opening Wisconsin’s first ever sportsbook. Named ‘The Book’, the casino plans to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony tomorrow, April 15th, at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate its grand opening.

The Book will allow sports betting of all types, only excluding Wisconsin Badger Football games. The sportsbook only offers on-site gambling, meaning there is no mobile app available to gamble with, all bets must be accepted in person.

Scott Borkaw, lead marketing consultant for the casino said, “We’re excited about it, I think it’s a great opportunity that hasn’t existed and a lot of people have been asking for it”. He Continues to say that one of the best amenities about the new sportsbook is its close proximity to the Twin Cities-only an hour and a half away.

One of the more unique things about The Book, is that although primarily a sportsbook, it still provides customers with a great viewing experience and offers a plethora of craft beers from both Minnesota and Wisconsin, and a great menu, that Scott Borkaw described as “Upper-end Sports Bar” food. The idea is that it can double as a sportsbook and when ‘gambling season’ slows down, it is also a sports bar where one can just hangout and have a nice meal. Borkaw adds that another unique part of this casino is that, outside of the sportsbook, it offers gambling such as roulette or craps, that is not available in Minnesota Casino’s.

The new sportsbook was made possible after a December meeting this past year, where Governor Tony Evers and the St. Croix Chippewa Native Americans signed a gaming compact amendment, in which Governor Evers allowed the tribe to offer on-site sports gambling.
