LEWISTON, Minn. (KWNO)-Raising money for cancer research is a springtime tradition in Lewiston.
It all culminates with the state’s longest-running race that benefits cancer research. The generous spirit that drives the annual Fools Five Road Race was on display at the community’s school, where students raised over $20,000 to donate to cancer research efforts.
It was the first time since 2019 that Lewiston-Altura students were able to partake in the fundraising effort that surrounds the annual race.
“These kids surprise us each year,” said Dan Goss, co-race director. “After two years of not being able to raise money for cancer research, they went back to doing what they do, which is door-to-door fundraising.”
Judy Hovelson, co-race director, added, “What an awesome job they’ve done. You could feel the excitement in the gym.”
The Fools Five returns to its regular time this weekend.
