Army Corps of Engineers Seeking Public Comment on Pipeline for Dredged Material

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KWNO)-The US Army Corps on Engineers is asking the public to comment on a draft plan for a proposed pipeline that would transport dredged material from the Mississippi River.  

The proposed pipeline would run from Reads Landing to the Wabasha Gravel Pit. A news release from the corps said the plastic pipeline would be over 6,000 feet long and 24 inches in diameter.  

The pipeline would be used to move sand taken from the confluence of the Mississippi and Chippewa rivers. The corps said the pipeline could be operational later this year or next year if it’s approved.

Comments on the draft EA should be submitted no later than March 29. Persons submitting comments are advised that all comments received will be available for public review, including the possibility of posting on a public website.
