(KWNO)-The Habitat for Humanity Serving Winona County has completed its 52nd home build.

Community Engagement Coordinator Jesse Darst says the Skapple family recently moved into the home. She praised their perseverance as the habitat battled COVID, supply chain issues, and other hurdles.

“They hung in there. They kept volunteering, they kept waiting and they stuck it out and now they’re home,” Darst said during an interview on KWNO’s In the Know Wednesday morning.

Darst says the family has been chosen for house 53. She says the family is putting in sweat equity hours and are working with the home design team.

The 53rd home will be located on the 850 block of East Broadway. Darst says they hope to break ground once the spring thaw begins.
