WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-A shortage of COVID-19 tests kits is limiting testing capacity at Winona Health.

“At this time, limits must be placed on testing in order to preserve test kits for those patients seeking care who may need to be admitted to the hospital, have surgery, and/or are seeking care with a provider for symptoms that cannot be managed well at home,” reads a post on Winona Health’s website.

Winona Health will conduct all outpatient COVID-19 testing in the Parkview Office Building unless the testing is during a provider visit. A limited number of walk-in tests are available, but Winona Health says they will close their testing site once the day’s supply of tests has been exhausted.

Winona Health recommends the following:

  • Seek an at-home/over-the-counter test kit.
  • If symptomatic and can manage symptoms at home, please stay home.
  • Do not seek a second test within 72 hours of a first test.
  • Get tested (based on CDC guidelines) if:
  • Symptomatic
  • It has been at least 5 days after you have come into close contact with someone with COVID-19
  • When referred to get tested by a healthcare provider, workplace, school, etc.
