Hundreds of Winona County Residents Taking Advantage of COVID-19 Vaccine Incentive

By TJ Nov 24, 2021 | 10:55 AM

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Hundreds of Winona County residents have taken advantage of a COVID-19 vaccine incentive program rolled out by the county’s health department.

“We have ordered probably 600 Visa gift cards and I believe most of them are out the door,” Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge told KWNO Wednesday.

Earlier this month, the county accepted funding from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to set up an incentive program that awards a $50 gift card to Winona County residents who get their first COVID-19 vaccine. Residents ages five and older are eligible for the incentive.

Winona County has several vaccine clinics scheduled in the coming days.

The county isn’t alone in offering vaccine incentives, MDH is giving out $200 gift cards and donated entertainment experiences to children between the age of 12-17 and Winona Health recently rolled out a gas card incentive.
