(KWNO)-Winter Hazzard Awareness Week has come to a close.
Winona County Emergency Management was among many participating agencies to share tips to avoid both outdoor and indoor hazards. Each day had a theme that ranged from indoor fire safety to deciphering winter weather notices from the National Weather Service.
Friday’s theme concentrates on winter driving safety.
“Make sure you slow down, give yourself more time to get where you’re going, leave more space between you and the person in front of you,” said Winona County Emergency Management Director Ben Klinger. “Remember four-wheel drive may help you go but four-wheel drive doesn’t help you stop.”
Bill would require large industries to get water permit
The bill's proponents say the practice of large industries piggybacking on a city's water-use permit helps them avoid public scrutiny and puts the state's groundwater supply at risk.
