
Now former Winona City Manager Steve Sarvi updates the city council on the Alternative Response Team on 5-3-21
WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)- Steve Sarvi is no longer the Winona City Manager.
A statement from city officials says his last day of employment was Oct. 8. The city council held a special meeting on Tues., Oct. 4 to evaluate Sarvi’s job performance.
The statement further states the city never took any disciplinary action against Sarvi, nor was there any record of complaints against Sarvi. He was hired by the city in February of 2016.
Assistant City Manager Chad Ubl will be Acting City Manager while the city determines the next steps to appointing a new manager, the statement says.

WINONA, Minn —Winona City Manager Stephen T. Sarvi’s last date of employment was October 8, 2021.Sarviwas employed by the city since February 22, 2016 under anEmployment Agreement.Sarvi was responsible for the control and direction of the administration of the city’s affairs.His last gross annual salary with the city was$150,404.42. The city took no disciplinary action against Stephen Sarvi while he was employed with the cityand no data of complaints existed or exist against him as an employee of the city.The city is confident that it will continue to serve the community safely, effectively, and efficiently. Assistant City Manager Chad Ublwill continue as Acting City Manager as established forhis job position. The city will determineits next steps for appointing a regular City Manager.The city has no further comments about this matter due, primarily, to Minnesota’s government data privacy laws.
