The National Weather Service Storm Summary indicated wind speeds of 70 mph destroyed a pole barn, damaged a residence, and knocked over a semi-truck in the Independence area. It also shows lightning may have caused a house to start on fire in Houston, Minn.

Winona avoided the damaging winds but got a period of a torrential downpour. There was also a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Winona County.
