WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Sign up for a community task force meant to help shape the vision for the future of Winona Area Public Schools is now open.
“The task force will seek to answer a list of guiding questions then provide the school board with a report that the school board will use as a basis for making decisions about the future of Winona Area Public Schools and its buildings,” Communications Coordinator John Casper said.
The task force is limited to 30 members and will meet eight times, mostly on Wednesday nights from Oct. through Feb. The group is similar to the one convened in 2018 before the community passed the $9.52 million bond referendum.
The task force’s formation comes as WAPS faces $63 million in deferred maintenance costs for its buildings. The application window closes at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11.
