WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)- The City of Winona is asking some residents to boil water before using it.
The affected area includes homes along the following streets: Hillview Dr., Brookview Dr., Glenview Dr., Glenview Ct., Glenview Rd., Glenmary Rd., Glendale Rd., Glenecho Ln., Glenecho Rd., Glen Ln., and West Burns Valley Rd., east of address 530 West Burns Valley Rd.
A press release from the city says to bring water to a rolling boil for one minute then let it cool. Officials say to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation.
The City of Winona Water Department says they expect to solve the problem in four days or less. The boil water notice went out after two unexpected water main breaks on Wednesday morning caused a drop in pressure, which officials say could result in water contamination.
Crews are disinfecting, flushing the mains, and taking bacteria samples to make sure water is safe to drink. Crews are providing water to homes in the impacted areas.
