Canadian Pacific’s (CP) CP Has Heart community investment program has provided another $20,000 in funding to Winona Health. Winona Health will use these funds to upgrade cardiac monitors in several areas.

“Monitoring patients’ cardiac function is a vital part of the care we provide,” said Kris Cichon, director of inpatient care at Winona Health. “Early recognition of cardiac rhythm issues and timely intervention are critical in saving lives. This gift allows us to upgrade to the latest technology so we can continue providing the best care to our patients. We are very appreciative of CP’s generosity.”

“CP is proud to once again donate $20,000 to Winona Health for updated bedside cardiac monitors for several departments,” said Shawn Duce, Trainmaster – River Subdivision. “Investing in the communities we operate in and through is very important to us. We are confident this donation will help the hospital to provide patients in Winona and surrounding areas with care using the very best cardiac equipment possible.”

The CP gift will go toward updating the hospital’s cardiac monitoring system, which will include:

  • Bedside cardiac monitors for Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department
  • Cardiac transport monitors Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Operating Room and Nursery
  • Implementation and training for the new system
  • Continued technical support and customization

The gift was received through CP’s community investment program, CP Has Heart, which focuses on improving the heart health of adults and children in communities across North America. A previous gift from the CP was used toward upgrading the cardiac monitoring system in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department.
