(KWNO)-Winona County’s population has declined, according to newly released data from the 2020 census.
The county’s total population as of 2020 is 49,671. In 2010 it was 51,461, a drop of 1,790 people and a 1% population decrease.
Winona County comes in as the 19th most populous county in Minnesota. Wabasha and Houston Counties join Winona in seeing populations drop over the past decade, with population percentage decreases of 1% and 1.3% respectively.
Fillmore and Olmsted Counties saw their populations rise over the past 10 years. Fillmore County’s population increased by 1.7% and Olmsted’s went up by 12.9%.
