(KWNO)-Local, state, and federal emergency management officials will conduct a test of two emergency alerts on Wednesday.
Winona County Emergency Management Coordinator Ben Klinger says there will be a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA) beginning at 1:20 p.m. Those with cell phones opted in for receiving wireless alerts will get a test message between 1:20 p.m. and 1:50 p.m.
The EAS portion of the test will be sent via AM, FM, and satellite radio, as well as broadcast, cable, and satellite TV. The test message will be like the regular monthly EAS test message.
