(KWNO)-Nearly all of Minnesota is in at least a moderate drought.

That’s according to the latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor. Most of Winona and Wabasha Counties, along with northern parts of Houston and Fillmore Counties are the only areas of the state that are considered abnormally dry.

Almost 19% of the state is in an extreme drought, up from nearly 4% last week. Just under 72% of the state is in a severe drought, up from 52% a week ago.

98% of Minnesota is in a moderate drought, which is unchanged from last week.

Officials are monitoring water levels on the Mississippi River and other bodies of water. The US Army Corps of Engineers says navigation is continuing on the Mississippi despite the low water levels.
