WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-A playground for children of all abilities opened in Lake Park last summer.
Now the people who brought the heavily used “Every Child’s Dream Playground” to life are looking to add on. Playground Chair Jack Krage is leading a fundraising effort to build a pavilion near the playground.
“The shelter plan evolved last year as we opened the playground,” Krage said during an interview on KWNO’s In the Know Friday. “Even though we have 12 picnic tables around the playground, there is no shade.”
Krage says the plan is to construct a pavilion large enough for 12 picnic tables on the north side of the playground. He said it would provide kids, parents and groups a sheltered place to gather while at the destination playground.
Krage’s fundraising effort picked up the endorsement of the Winona City Council. He says their goal is to raise $80,000 and start construction on the pavilion next year.
