WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona’s COVID-19 testing site has new summer hours.
The hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The site, located in the Winona Mall, was one of several regional rapid-saliva testing sites the state opened last year.
Winona County Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge said the Winona site has conducted 19,179 tests from October 2020 through June 20, 2021. She said the statewide sites are winding down operations amid falling demand and lower COVID-19 infections.
Meanwhile, health officials are continuing to encourage eligible people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as the Delta variant becomes more widespread.
“We know that the vaccines are working. We seem to be in a good place right now but this Delta variant of concern that MDH (Minnesota Department of Health) and local public health is continuing to monitor,” said Tatge.
The county will hold a pop-up vaccination event at the Winona County Fair and the Winona Farmers Market in July.
