LA CROSSE, Wis. (KWNO)-The National Weather Service La Crosse says southeastern Minnesota and southwestern Wisconsin is at a slight to enhanced risk of seeing severe weather this afternoon and into tonight (Thursday).
The Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in Winona, Olmsted Wabasha, Buffalo, and Trempealeau Counties along with the northern portion of Houston County.
Southern Houston County and most of Fillmore County have an enhanced risk of severe storms, which meteorologists say is a level three of five risk. Forecasted highs are in the low 90’s with humidity expected to drive heat index values into the high 90’s.
Forecasters say the storms could bring large hale and damaging winds. The NWS is asking residents to stay weather-aware throughout the day.
