LA CROSSE, Wis. (KWNO)-A lack of rain and record heat has accelerated drought conditions in the area.
The National Weather Service La Crosse says from April 1 to June 8, southeast Minnesota is 2-6 inches below normal 1991-2020 precipitation levels. Meteorologists say the Winona area saw a below-average rainfall total of 0.59 inches between June 1 and June 8.
Relief could be on the way later this week. Forecasters say they’re keeping their eye on a potential threat of showers storms Wednesday night into Thursday.
