ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary’s University baseball team will have to wait another day to kick off its first NCAA Regional appearance in 28 days.
With Mother Nature throwing her best May curveball — dousing the Twin Cities area in what is predicted to be a day-long soaker — regional officials have decided to push the start of the six-team, double-elimination tournament back one day.
The fifth-seeded Cardinals will now square off against second-seeded Aurora at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Reynolds Field on the campus of the University of Northwestern.
No. 1 seed Trinity (Texas) will open the day against sixth-seeded Johns Hopkins, while No. 3 Misericordia and No. 4 University of Northwestern will close out the day at 6 p.m.
