WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona Area Public Schools will continue to distribute free breakfast and lunch to local students throughout the summer.

Communications Coordinator John Casper said the district has distributed over 400,000 meals since the program began in March of last year. He said that’s a credit to the district’s nutrition staff for problem-solving for the past year-plus.

Casper said the district has continued free meal distribution throughout the school year.

Meals throughout the summer will be distributed at Goodview and St. Stan’s elementary schools, the Winona Middle and High Schools, and the Winona Area Learning Center. The summer lunch bus will move to the Bob Welch Aquatic Center due to construction at the library.

WAPS will also offer five-day meal pack pickup for families at the high school Wednesday nights. The meals are open to all students 18 and under regardless if they attend a WAPS school or not.
