Winona County Changing Vaccination Approach

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona County Health and Human Services is changing its vaccination approach.

Winona County Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge said the county will hold pop-up vaccination clinics at community events instead of using large spaces to distribute shots.

“We’re noticing that that population who has been willing to receive the vaccine has already received that vaccine,” said Tatge. “This has made local public health, medical providers have to think creatively of how we can meet others where they’re at to receive their vaccine.”

The county is planning to hold popup clinics at community events. Tatge said the vaccine will be offered at the Lake Park Drive-in Music and Movies event on May 28, Winona Steamboat Days in mid-June, and the Winona County Fair in early July.

Tatge stressed that shots are still available at pharmacies and other local medical care providers. She says those who have gotten their first shots at the clinics will get their second shots at the same locations.

Winona County is holding clinics open to anyone ages 12 and older today (Wednesday) and Thursday.
