GALESVILLE, Wis. (KWNO)-K-9 Luke with the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office was a busy boy during a weekend crackdown initiative last month.

Authorities say Luke sniffed out suspected drugs in three of 40 traffic stops back on April 23. It got started at 2:47 p.m. when officers say Luke alerted them to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle of 34-year-old Kayla M. Rach of La Crosse. A search of the vehicle turned up suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

At 5:27 p.m., authorities say Luke sniffed out suspected marijuana hidden in the vehicle of a Columbia Heights man. Officers arrested 33-year-old Nicholas E. Zumberge on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Luke capped off his Saturday at 10:38 p.m. when he alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle of 20-year-old David J. Hovis of Minneapolis. Authorities say they found a large amount of suspected methamphetamine in Hovis’s vehicle. Hovis also had an outstanding arrest warrant for armed robbery in Anoka County, Minn.

All three suspects were brought to the Trempealeau County jail. The traffic stops all occurred in the City of Galesville and the Town of Gale.
