WAPS Set to Resume Full-Time In-Person Learning Across All Grades Thursday

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Winona Area Public Schools is getting ready to return to full-time, in-person learning across all grades on Thursday.

It’s the first time WAPS has offered in-person instruction for all students since the pandemic began.

This is a celebration of the community following all of the protocols. Avoiding large groups when possible, wearing masks staying home when you’re sick,” said WAPS Communications Coordinator John Casper. “We really have minimized the spike. I know Minnesota is kind of seeing a rise in other areas but so far in Winona that hasn’t happened and we are really grateful for that.”

The return comes as Minnesota has seen its COVID-19 case rate increase over the past month, with younger people being the driving force behind the increase, according to health officials.

Casper said the district will pass along vaccination information to students and families and will continue encouraging students to get tested for the virus.
