(KWNO)- Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) is reporting no new COVID-19 cases since completing their learning model change late last month.

That just kind of goes to show how closely we are following the protocols here,” said WAPS Communications Coordinator John Casper. “That also is a credit to the community. As I’ve said before, if cases are low in the community chances are [COVID-19] won’t get into our schools either.”

Grades K-5 are receiving full in-person instruction five days per week and grades 6-12 are in hybrid form. COVID-19 cases in the community, a key factor in dictating learning models, continue to trend down.

Casper said WAPS could be looking at full in-person learning at the middle and high school in late April if the current downward trend continues.

There were no new COVID-19 infections reported in Winona County Tuesday.
