(KWNO)- To combat a rising demand for mental health services, Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Centers will offer training seminars to help community members recognize the signs of someone struggling with mental illness.
“We are seeing such an increase and there are wait lists in most areas for services” said Adult Community Based Services Director Christy Farrington. “Anything we can do to provide the community and our fellow colleagues with more training the better.”
Farrington says Hiawatha Valley hopes to offer two free webinars a month to help community members gain the skills necessary to help someone going through a mental health crisis. The first training–titled question, persuade, refer– is being offered on Feb. 16 and 23.
The second training, scheduled for March 16 and 23, centers around adverse childhood experiences. To learn more, click here.
