Chili Cookoff Set for Feb. 12

By TJ Feb 2, 2021 | 10:44 AM

(KWNO)- The 27th annual Chili cookoff is set for Feb. 12.

The event is a fundraising effort for Ready Set School, which helps Winona County families afford school supplies. Executive Director Mandi Olson told KWNO they saw a large increase in voucher requests in 2020 and expects that need to continue in 2021.

“We are expecting the need to be just as great this year so that’s why events like the chili cook-off are so important to support the cause,” Olson said.

The event will look different this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Steak Shop Catering will be the exclusive chili provider, offering three different flavors for lunch and dinner.

Pick-up times for chili are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.at the entrance of the Steak Shop Catering parking lot. Tickets are available in advance for $10 at HyVee, Midtown Foods, and all three WNB Financial Offices in Winona. Advanced tickets can also be purchased online at www.readysetschool.com/chili where debit, credit, or Pay pal options are accepted.

Tickets are available for$12 the day of the event.
