(KWNO)- Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) teachers and staff were given nine slots at the Olmsted County COVID-19 vaccination pilot site last week.
That’s according to WAPS Communications Coordinator John Casper. He told KWNO that several WAPS staff members who have jobs in healthcare along with their role in the district, are 65 or older or, have underlying health conditions have been vaccinated.
Casper said he’s unsure how many slots the district will get this week and that WAPS will share vaccination information in the coming days. The vaccinations come as grades 2-4 return to in-person instruction Wednesday and grades 6-12 shift into hybrid learning starting Thursday.
“It seems like we’re heading in the right direction. Everything from the last month or so. Both in terms of our numbers going down in the community, our vaccine starting to arrive,” said Casper.
