(KWNO) City of Winona leaders could look at similar measures taken in 2020 to provide help for businesses impacted by COVID-19 closures and service reductions.

“We are always looking at the impacts the pandemic has not only on our local businesses but also the public,” Mayor Scott Sherman during a news conference Tuesday.

Last year, the city reduced licensing fees and relaxed ordinances on outdoor seating and service. City Manager Steve Sarvi said what could happen at the local level depends on possible aid packages passed at the state and federal levels.

“Some of this going to depend on what the federal and state government with respect to additional aid to the cities. So, if another package comes down we’ll certainly look as to how we can further impact the community and help out,” Sarvi said.
