(KWNO)-Sexual abuse victims have reached a settlement with the Diocese of Winona-Rochester for $30 million. The diocese filed for bankruptcy eight years ago; 145 survivors of sexual abuse have been waiting for the settlement to be reached with the diocese’s largest insurer.
This settlement follows trial victories against the Diocese of Winona for three victims in 2025. Another lawsuit moving through the courts sought $27 million for nine survivors of former priest Thomas Adamson. Adamson was a “notorious abuser” according to a statement from attorneys representing some of the victims. The trial in that case was scheduled to start in Winona County on September 28.
